County owned, 40 site, RV / tent campground located on the south end of Siesta Key with beach access to the Gulf or Mexico

Turtle Beach Campground is a typical RV / tent campgroud with picnic tables and restrooms with showers. The campground consists of one road about a block long with campsites on each side of the road . There are some trees, but little vegetatian between campsites and therefore little privacy. Only one tent is permitted per campsite. As of June 2008, campsites cost $32 to $42 per night May1 through October 31 and $45 to $60 per night November 1 through April 30. The campground is popular with RV campers and reservations usually must be made well ahead of time. There is a restaurant across the street and several other restaurants from moderately priced to upscale within a short walking distance. This is a busy, "developed" campground and is not recommended for those desiring a "primitive" or isolated camping experience. Reservations may be difficult to obtain even far ahead of time due to the popularity of the campground.

Special Interests and Comments:

With the exception of Oscar Scherer State Park and Snake Island in Venice Inlet, this is the only legal campsite in Sarasota County that I have been able to find.
